Iron pipes have been used for ages for various purposes. They are developed as per different schedules. Schedule 40 Cast Iron Pipe has been used as a pressure pipe for the transmission of water, gas, and sewage. It is usually used uncoated. Even though the coating enhances its hydraulics and resistance to corrosion. the cast iron pipe was overtaken by the ductile iron pipe. One of the cast iron pipe specifications is that it is resistant to abrasion. This makes them suitable for anyone who wants to flush out materials like dishwasher water, sand, and garbage. There is minimal noise vibration between the pipe and the fitting.
cast iron pipe sizesare such that they are indestructible and highly durable. They allow easy installation and are efficient. They are also said to be cheaper to install. As per the cast iron pipe weight chart a 1 inch NPS with a thickness of 0.133 and a 1.315 outer diameter along with a 1.049 inside diameter will have a cast iron pipe weight of 1.689 per foot. These pipes are divided into different classes. And a series that followers starting with A, La, and so on. The class A cast iron pipe sizes in mm range between 80 - 900. allow a 10% increase in thickness over class LA. while class B allows a 20% increase in thickness over class LB.
Schedule 40 Cast Iron Pipe suppliers recommend these pipes due to these qualities however it also has certain drawbacks. schedule 40 cast iron pipe rusts over a period of time. It also slows the drainage of water. They are available in various sizes with the smallest one starting at 4 inches. The 10 feet iron pipe price depends upon the size and the schedule that they are made with. Also, a 20 feet iron pipe weight will differ as per the size of it and the material used in it.
Tensile strength tested from test bar min. 276 Mpa. As for gray cast iron, there was no requirements to the yield strength and elongation normally. The hardness should be about 200-250 Brinell Hardness. However, this range is only for reference. According to the characters of castings and application, the iron foundries and clients could produce and require the special hardness range.
As for this grade, the chemical composition is not required in the standards, the cast iron manufacturers could adjust their composition according to their experience, as long as the tensile strength could meet the requirement. The following is the common chemical components just for reference.
C: 2.80-3.30, Si: 1.20-1.70, Mn: 0.70-1.20, P≤0.15, S≤0.12, Carbon Equivalent: 3.7-3.9.
